Billy Wayne Bruce
Billy Wayne Bruce invented electric guitar as it should be known in Plaquemines Parish way back in 2013.
His fingers had to move fast enough to avoid the sweat, mosquitoes and gators — and get to the beer as quickly as possible.
He became the must-have guitarist-on-call whenever a lick or solo previously deemed physically impossible needed to be played.
His skills were exhibited in the documentary White Ivy League Professor Comes Down to the Sticks to Exploit Some Backwoods Bumpkin Savant, and from there he played several late-night “Aw shucks! Ain't that boy good?” segments on major networks.
Based on the streaming royalties and the modern appreciation of history and talent, he still occasionally takes breaks from the oyster-shucking plant to entertain at the local keggers.
Shattuck got Billy out of the oyster plant for the documentary audition. Billy still considers this “the big break.”
On the record.
Physically impossible guitar work, Plaquemines Parish engineering and enough gas-station cappuccino to finish the session.
